Political conflict and social movements

Abstract

This work focuses on reflecting on the link between political conflict and social movement. Link where the category of power necessarily emerges as the articulating process of any antagonistic or subordinate social relationship. It starts from a series of questions that, although they do not suggest a finished answer, make it possible to guide the present discussion: is political conflict a central category for the analysis of social movements? What is meant by political conflict? Is it constitutive element of the movements? How to conceptualize the political power that constitutes a social movement? Is it from their power relations, their conflicts, their political nature? How to theoretically apprehend the category of social movement thinking of Latin America? What kind of conflict are articulated by social movements in that region? Is it possible to apprehend them theoretically?
