Urban Artists Program: A reading from Urban Sociology

Abstract

Urban art is conceptualized from the appropriation of urban spaces, as a form of expression of the creativity of the "urban artist". However, this form of expression tends to reconfigure itself when the political process tries to regulate it. Thus, last June the Guidelines for the Urban Artists Program were approved, which have faced deep rejection by the Puebla artistic community. This program has caused the proliferation of multiple opinions. However, one of the most interesting aspects to discuss is the one regarding the regulation of public space.
