Abstract
This article contextualizes the types of public entertainment that existed in the city of San Luis Potosí at the end of the 19th century, during the Porfirista government. Special attention is paid to the way in which local authorities and public opinion observed and regulated the behavior, recreation and leisure of the population, as part of the development of the modernizing project, which significantly monitored civic morality.
