Abstract
The tertiary sector, specifically commerce, in San Mateo Atenco has brought with it numerous challenges, among which the inadequate use of public space stands out. One of the most obvious problems is the obstruction of sidewalks by merchants, a situation that affects the mobility and safety of pedestrians. This work analyzes how merchants invade pedestrian space and the consequences this has on society, as well as some alternative solutions for this dilemma between informal commerce and the right of citizens to move freely through the streets.
