The structural causes of changes in affect

Abstract

Capitalism, on the basis of its own laws of economic operation, increasingly expands the scale and rate of production; consequently, expanding markets. Through the free movement of capital, labor power and goods, it has achieved the conquest of new territories, dragging the most diverse cultural groups towards the same social and economic system - and sometimes even towards the same labor market - and even national ones that exist. Its advance does not stop until there is no more world to make capitalist. “Capital, moved by its own legalities and internal needs, drives a progressive history towards globalization” (Algranti, 2001), so much so that “the expansion of the capitalist economy has finally reached global extension” (Bauman, 2005b).
