Abstract

In this essay we intend to analyze the “content” of the Andean “Great Rebellion” between 1780 and 1783, known to have been led by Túpac Amaru and Túpac Katari. To do this, we ask ourselves, specifically, if said content can be considered as "anti-systemic" and "anti-colonial". In order to study this problem, we consider it necessary, in the first place, to explore and define the economic structure of Peru in the eighteenth century: as we believe, the scope and meaning of all social action can only be duly evaluated in its interaction with the structural elements with respect to those that are exercised. Regarding these elements, we characterize them from the perspectives displayed by decolonial thought, which are based on the analysis of the world-system developed by Immanuel Wallerstein.
