Mine and lies: the case of Magdalena Teitipac, Tlacolula de Matamoros, Oaxaca
Abstract
This job has an objective to analyze the social conflictive in the different collective actions arising from the implementation of a mining project in the indigenous community of Magdalena Teitipac municipality that belongs to the district 17 of Tlacolula of Matamoros, located in the region of Valles Centrals of Oaxaca, with the finality of showing the actors, interest and logical in dispute for the appropriation of peasants and indigenous territories. ethnographic research presented in which community life described is presented the conflicts that faced the population before a neoliberal project: the exploitation of a gold mine by the Canadian company “Plata Real”, likewise described the answers of the social actors, who managed to prevent the imposition of the project, driven for different levels of the government and corporations with domestic and foreign capital, without the query and approval of rural and indigenous populations owners land in which they intended to develop. It is proposed that this type of project does not represent an opinion for a development option for the community, and conversely genre pollution that damaged the water and coexistence of the community.
