Abstract

The purpose of this article is to make a description of the concept of domination and rationality in Weber's thought, based on the text "Economy and society, comprehensive sociology outline" to understand the structure of these concepts and their relationship with social theory. This allows us to see how the social thought of modernity is constituted, and the classic figure of sociological theory where domination and rationality are concepts that acquire great relevance in the studies of political sociology. In this way, it is intended to show what domination and rationality constitute in Max Weber's thought. Taking these approaches as a reference, we proceed to review some Latin American theorists who make a critique of the exposed Weberian categories. In order to demonstrate a series of convergences that exists within Latin American sociology with respect to the conceptualization exposed by Weber.
