Eurocentrism and indigenous ontology. The Pachamama
Abstract
This monograph is divided into two parts. In the first part we seek to determine, in its most general characteristics, what has become known as “Eurocentrism”. For this, we basically advance with the positions of Enrique Dussel and Aníbal Quijano. The "myth of modernity" and the "coloniality of power" are two of the elements that we will take into account to characterize the Eurocentric logic. In the second part we are going to delve into indigenous ontology, in particular the worldview of the Pachamama. Our intention is to show a brief journey that goes from the ancient "original goddesses" to the present day. Then, from the category of "ecological value", we will expose the relevance of Pachamama when it comes to thinking about our natural environment.
