Abstract

According to Curiel (2007), Afro-descendant and indigenous women have promoted a new discourse and a critical and transformative political practice in relation to feminism. From their subordination and from their situated experience, they have not recognized the paradigm of universal modernity, because they are white-male-heterosexual. These women have contributed much to the reconfiguration of this theoretical and political perspective. However, they have been the most subalternized even in the feminist movement itself. But they have also been considered subaltern in the social sciences and in societies in general. The universalist character and the racist bias that has characterized feminism have become a tombstone for the emancipatory urgencies of these ethnic minorities.
