Dominant ideology, public discourse and hidden discourse
Abstract
The dominant ideology is the set of ideas, myths, values and beliefs that allow the reproduction of a particular domination. It legitimates, justifies and promotes the prevailing social system of domination. This work intends to enter into the study of the dominant ideologies from its scope of expression. There are, at least, from the scope of expression of dominant ideologies, public and private. The public character implies censorship and concealment-deception, which are private and transparent. This separation is essential for the construction and maintenance of a dominance. Distinguishing different areas of expression from dominant ideologies allows us to understand ideology as a political process and to establish levels of transparency and concealment.
