The implications of video surveillance in Mexico: Case of Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz Oaxaca
Abstract
The first surveillance cameras emerged in Europe and the United States, mainly to locate small fraudsters and deter behavior that threatens the integrity of people; giving good results. In this sense, video surveillance has been a relevant tool within the range of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and widely used in the field of Electronic Government security, contributing to the reduction of crime rates in developed countries. As for Mexico, video surveillance systems have entered through their organizations in charge of security and promoted by the national government through the National Digital Strategy (EDN) where the use of ICT is announced for the fifth corresponding objective to public security, from the national to the local level.
