Alfonso Reyes or about hermeneutics

  • Jorge Mendoza Romero Doctorante

Abstract

In the following lines I will refer to my trade with the work of Alfonso Reyes in one of the central essays of The Literary Experience: "Aristarchus or Anatomy of Criticism" that can be considered, along with the "Apollo or Literature" and the " Jacobo or idea of poetry ”, among the most important reflective moments about the literary phenomenon written in our language. The ideas on which Alfonso Reyes runs today integrate the vanguard of contemporary thought in the light of textual hermeneutics, which emerges from ontological hermeneutics. The hermeneutic circle - a gradual way of approaching symbolic discourses (religious, mythical and aesthetic) to interpret the various meanings they embody, which emerges from the inquiries of philosophers such as Paul Ricœur (1995) and other hermeneuts - finds correspondences with what that Alfonso Reyes laconically called "Criticism". Thus, the hermeneutic circle (understanding-explanation-understanding) is assimilable to the degrees of Alfonsine criticism (impression-exegesis-judgment).
