Critical considerations about the colonial in the methodological for measuring migration
Abstract
In the following article, we are going to make some methodological comments on the phenomenon of immigration, especially international immigration. For this purpose, first we are going to establish the discussion framework in which exactly what migration is will be defined. Then, in the light of the decolonial perspective, the epistemological and ideological assumptions underlying the most modern ways of measuring migration and its causes will be reviewed. Finally, some comments will be made on potential measurement methodologies and what aspects or dimensions should be incorporated for a truly representative and historically situated analysis of the migratory phenomenon.
