The notion of objectivity in Kuhn

  • Rossana Soriano Sandoval Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México

Abstract

The statements of Thomas Kuhn raise the most influential of the initial questions to the currents of logical positivism and critical rationalism. It was The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, his best-known work, that caused this turn and caused not only his ideas to become known, but also his influence was enormous and encompassed many areas. This philosopher questions traditionally ingrained assumptions, such as: the neutral character of observation, the notion of an absolute truth, the choice of theories as an activity governed by autonomous and universal principles of rationality and the idea that philosophy Science has an exclusively normative function (Pérez Ransanz, 1999).
