Antigone or sensible youth. About October 2nd,1968

Abstract

In the current political and social times, it is necessary to return to our foundational readings. One of them, Antigone of Sophocles, has a privileged place to understand and discuss the role that rulers play in relation to the ruled. Among the multiple interpretations that this tragedy has had, I am now left with the one that sees Antigone as the symbol of the detached and rebellious youth that confronts the tyrannical government after considering its decrees foolish. The boldness and certain recklessness that the teenage years give us are probably the necessary elements to start any social movement that wants to revolutionize order.
